The math behind this method is straightforward. Because there are 60 seconds in one minute, you simply count your pulse for 6 seconds and multiply that number by 10.

- Locate your pulse: Use your index and middle fingers. The two most common spots are the Radial pulse (wrist) and the Carotid pulse (neck). Do not use your thumb, as it has its own pulse.
- Prepare a timer: Use a stopwatch or a clock with a second hand.
- Start counting: Start the timer and count every "thump" you feel for exactly 6 seconds.
- Calculate: Take the number of beats you counted and add a zero to the end (or multiply by 10).
