How to Calculate Fantasy Football Points
Calculating fantasy points correctly is the backbone of any winning strategy. Whether you are playing in a Standard, Half-PPR, or Full-PPR league, understanding how every yard and touchdown contributes to your total is essential for evaluating player value.
- Passing: 1 point per 25 yards
- Rushing/Receiving: 1 point per 10 yards
- Touchdowns: 6 points (Rushing/Receiving), 4 or 6 points (Passing)
- Turnovers: -2 points per Interception or Fumble Lost
- PPR: 1, 0.5, or 0 points per catch
The Math Behind the Score
The total score is the sum of various statistical categories. Our calculator uses the following logic:
Total = (Passing Yards / 25) + (Passing TDs * Value) + (Rushing Yards / 10) + (Rushing TDs * 6) + (Receptions * PPR Value) + (Receiving Yards / 10) + (Receiving TDs * 6) - (Turnovers * 2)
Example Calculation
Imagine a Quarterback has the following game stats:
- 300 Passing Yards (12 points)
- 3 Passing Touchdowns (12 points at 4pts/TD)
- 40 Rushing Yards (4 points)
- 1 Interception (-2 points)
Total Score: 12 + 12 + 4 – 2 = 26.00 Fantasy Points.
Standard vs. PPR Scoring
The biggest variation in fantasy football is Point Per Reception (PPR). In a Full PPR league, a receiver like Stefon Diggs catching 10 passes for 80 yards is worth 18 points. In a Standard league, that same performance is worth only 8 points. This calculator allows you to toggle between these settings to accurately reflect your league's unique rules.
