Astrocartography Calculator
Astrocartography Calculator and Explanation Formula:
Angular Proximity = 1 – (Min_Orb / Max_Orb)
Formula Source: Astro.com Locational Astrology | Astro-Seek Technical Docs
Variables:
- Birth Planet Longitude: The ecliptic position of a specific planet (e.g., Sun, Venus) at birth.
- Target Latitude/Longitude: The geographic coordinates of the city you are analyzing.
- House System Projection: The mathematical method used to project spherical coordinates onto a 2D map.
What is an Astrocartography Calculator?
Astrocartography is a branch of locational astrology that maps the positions of planets at the moment of your birth onto a map of the Earth. By calculating where planets were rising, setting, or peaking (at the Midheaven) at your exact birth time, we can identify “power lines” that influence your experience in specific geographic regions.
This calculator specifically evaluates the Relocation Harmony Score, which measures how close a specific planet comes to a major angle (Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, or IC) in a new location. The closer the planet is to an angle, the more powerful its influence becomes in your life there.
How to Calculate Astrocartography (Example):
- Identify your birth planet’s longitude (e.g., Sun at 150° Leo).
- Determine the Midheaven (MC) of the new location based on your birth time and the new longitude.
- Calculate the “Orb” or distance between the planet and the four angles.
- Assign a score: An orb under 2° is considered a “Strong Line” (90-100 points). An orb of 5° is “Moderate” (60-70 points).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Is Astrocartography accurate for everyone? It is based on your precise birth time; even a 15-minute error can shift your lines by hundreds of miles.
What is the “best” line to live on? Generally, Sun, Jupiter, and Venus lines are associated with success, expansion, and happiness, while Saturn lines indicate hard work.
Can I calculate my lines without a birth time? No, locational astrology requires a high degree of precision in time to calculate the angles of the Earth.
Does a high Harmony Score mean a better life? Not necessarily. A “high” harmony score indicates strong planetary activity. A high score on a Pluto line might indicate intense transformation, which can be challenging.
