Your Body Type:
Understanding Female Body Shapes
Every woman's body is unique, but most figures fall into five primary categories. Knowing your body type helps you choose clothing that highlights your best features and creates a balanced silhouette.
How to Measure Accurately
- Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest.
- Waist: Measure at your natural waistline, which is the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your buttocks and hips.
The Five Main Body Types
1. Hourglass: Your bust and hips are roughly equal in size, with a well-defined waist that is significantly smaller.
2. Pear (Triangle): Your hips are wider than your bust and shoulders. You likely have a defined waist and narrower shoulders.
3. Inverted Triangle: Your bust or shoulders are wider than your hips. You typically have a straight waist and athletic build.
4. Rectangle: Your bust, waist, and hips are fairly similar in size. You have a straight silhouette with less waist definition.
5. Apple (Round): Your waist is wider than your bust and hips. You may have a fuller midsection and slender legs.
Realistic Example Calculation
If your measurements are Bust: 36, Waist: 27, Hips: 37:
- The ratio between bust and hips is close (difference of 1 inch).
- The waist is 25% smaller than the hips (27 / 37 = 0.72).
- Result: This is a classic Hourglass shape.
