The Fantasy Football Trade Calculator helps you determine the fairness of any trade involving up to four assets (players, draft picks, or FAAB). Input the Trade Value Score for three assets, and the calculator will solve for the required score of the fourth asset to make the trade even. Alternatively, input all four to check the net trade advantage.

Fantasy Football Trade Calculator Formula

The calculation is based on the Net Trade Advantage (NTA):

NTA = (V₃ + V₄) - (V₁ + V₂)

Where NTA must be close to zero for a fair trade.

If solving for a missing value (e.g., Vₓ):

Vₓ (Required) = (V₁ + V₂) - (V₃ + V₄ + ... excluding Vₓ)

Variables Explained

  • Asset 1 (Sent) Value Score (V₁): The numerical value of your primary player/asset being offered in the trade.
  • Asset 2 (Sent) Value Score (V₂): The value of your secondary asset (e.g., a late-round pick, a bench player, or FAAB) being offered.
  • Asset 3 (Received) Value Score (V₃): The numerical value of the primary player/asset you are acquiring.
  • Asset 4 (Received) Value Score (V₄): The value of the secondary asset you are acquiring (e.g., a draft pick or a throw-in player).

What is Fantasy Football Trade Calculator?

A Fantasy Football Trade Calculator is an essential tool designed to objectively quantify the value of players and draft capital involved in a fantasy trade proposal. It aims to remove emotion from the negotiating process by assigning a standardized numerical “value score” to each asset, allowing managers to compare the total value being sent versus the total value being received.

While no single calculator can account for every league-specific nuance (like roster need or league competitiveness), a good calculator provides a crucial baseline. Using one helps ensure you are not drastically underselling your players or overpaying for an acquisition, leading to smarter, more successful roster moves over the course of the season.

How to Calculate Fantasy Football Trade Value (Example)

Suppose you are trading RB A (Value 800) and WR B (Value 150) for WR C (Value 600) and TE D (Value 300).

  1. Determine Total Value Sent: Add the value scores of the assets you are giving up: $800 + 150 = 950$.
  2. Determine Total Value Received: Add the value scores of the assets you are acquiring: $600 + 300 = 900$.
  3. Calculate Net Trade Advantage (NTA): Subtract the Sent value from the Received value: $900 – 950 = -50$.
  4. Interpret the Result: Since the NTA is $-50$, you are giving up $50$ more in value than you are receiving. The trade is slightly unfavorable to you. You would need to ask for an additional asset worth $50$ to make it even.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is the Trade Value Score based on PPR or Standard scoring?

Our scoring model is generally based on consensus full PPR projections, but the relative values usually hold true across formats. Always use the same source for all four asset values for consistency.

What does it mean if the Net Trade Advantage (NTA) is positive?

A positive NTA means the total value of the assets you are receiving is higher than the total value of the assets you are sending. This is a trade advantage in your favor.

Can I use this calculator for draft pick valuations?

Yes. Simply assign the appropriate numerical value score (derived from a dynasty trade chart) to the draft pick and enter it into the V₂ or V₄ fields.

Why are there four input fields?

Most common trades involve a “throw-in” player or asset (like a late pick or conditional FAAB). The four fields ensure you can calculate a full 2-for-2 trade scenario accurately.
