Understanding UPS Envelope Rates
Shipping documents and small items via UPS Envelopes is a reliable way to ensure urgent delivery. However, costs can vary significantly based on the service level chosen and the distance the package travels (determined by Zones).
Service Level Differences
UPS Next Day Air® Early: Guaranteed delivery by 8:00 a.m. to major cities. The most expensive option.
UPS Next Day Air®: Guaranteed delivery by 10:30 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. Standard overnight service.
UPS Next Day Air Saver®: Guaranteed delivery by end of day (3:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. for commercial). The most cost-effective overnight option.
UPS 2nd Day Air®: Delivery by the end of the second business day. Good for non-critical urgent shipments.
What Affects Your Rate?
Zones: UPS divides the US into zones based on the origin zip code. Zone 2 is local/regional, while Zone 8 typically represents coast-to-coast shipping. The higher the zone, the higher the base rate.
Weight: The standard "Letter Rate" applies to UPS Envelopes weighing up to 8 oz (0.5 lbs). If you stuff the envelope beyond this weight, you will be charged based on the actual weight, often rounded up to the next pound.
Residential Surcharges: delivering to a home address incurs an additional fee compared to a commercial address.
Fuel Surcharge: This is a variable percentage applied to the base rate and surcharges, fluctuating weekly based on fuel prices.
