US Bra Size Calculator: Find Your Perfect Fit
Finding the right bra size is crucial for comfort, support, and the overall look of your clothing. Many women wear the wrong bra size, leading to discomfort, poor posture, and an unflattering silhouette. Our US Bra Size Calculator helps you determine your accurate bra size based on two simple measurements.
Why is Bra Size Important?
- Comfort: A well-fitting bra prevents digging straps, gaping cups, and uncomfortable underwires.
- Support: Proper support reduces back and shoulder pain, especially for those with larger busts.
- Appearance: The right bra enhances your natural shape and makes your clothes fit better.
- Health: Good support can prevent sagging and improve posture over time.
How to Measure for Your Bra Size
You'll need a soft measuring tape and ideally, wear a non-padded bra or no bra at all for the most accurate results. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight, and parallel to the floor.
- Underbust Measurement (Band Size): Wrap the measuring tape snugly around your rib cage, directly under your bust. Make sure it's level all the way around your back. Breathe out to get the smallest measurement. Round this number to the nearest whole inch.
- Bust Measurement (Cup Size): Wrap the measuring tape loosely around the fullest part of your bust. Ensure the tape is level across your back and not digging into your breast tissue. Round this number to the nearest whole inch.
Once you have these two measurements, enter them into our calculator below to find your recommended US bra size.

Understanding Your Bra Size
Your bra size is a combination of your band size (the number) and your cup size (the letter). Both are equally important for a proper fit.
- Band Size: The band provides about 80% of the support. It should be snug and level across your back, not riding up. If it's too loose, you won't get adequate support.
- Cup Size: The cups should fully encapsulate your breast tissue without gaping or spilling over. There should be no "double-boob" effect or empty space in the cups.
Tips for a Perfect Bra Fit
- Scoop and Swoop: After putting on your bra, lean forward and gently scoop all breast tissue from under your arms and sides into the cups.
- Check the Band: The band should be horizontal across your back. You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably under the band, but no more.
- Check the Straps: Straps should provide minimal support (about 10-20%) and not dig into your shoulders. If they are doing most of the work, your band is likely too loose.
- Check the Center Gore: The center panel between the cups (the gore) should lie flat against your sternum. If it's floating away, your cups might be too small.
- Try Different Styles: Not all bra styles fit the same. A size that works in a full-coverage bra might be different in a plunge or balconette style.
When to Re-measure
Your bra size can change due to various factors:
- Weight fluctuations
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Hormonal changes
- Aging
It's a good idea to re-measure your bra size every 6-12 months or whenever you notice your current bras aren't fitting as well as they used to.
Remember, this calculator provides an estimate. The best way to find your perfect bra is to try on different sizes and styles in a store, ideally with the help of a professional fitter.
